Elderly Woman Robbed Of Food After Visiting Church Pantry

A 78 year old woman is recovering after a robbery. The woman had gone to the F Street Neighborhood Church at 13th and F Street around 7 Thursday evening. She had visited the FoodNet pantry at the church and received boxes of food.

The woman told officers she had received a box of food and had taken it to the parking lot. She returned to the building to get additional boxes. She returned to find a man and a woman who tried to take one of her boxes she had not yet carried into the parking lot.

The man and the woman pushed the elderly woman away from the food boxes and started to take items. The woman suffered a cut to her forearm during the confrontation.

The couple were informed police were called. The man ran from the area. The woman, 35 year old Crystal Tennyson was found across the street from the church.

Tennyson was taken into custody and booked for robbery.
