The Lincoln Children’s Zoo has a new resident for the public to see on their next visit. Lancaster is a giant anteater pup and was born on May 29th to mom, Maisy. Zoo officials say both are healthy and thriving.
“Because giant anteaters are a vulnerable species with a declining population, Lancaster’s birth is important for the conservation efforts of this incredible species,” zoo officials said in a Facebook post.
For the time being, Maisy and Lancaster will only be on exhibit each day from 10 a.m. to noon. During those times they will still have indoor access and might not always be visible.
