You know how bridges all have the height on them? There is a reason, so that anyone hauling things will avoid it if they are too tall. Trucks a lot of times will find alternative routes or let some air out of their tires, so they can squeeze under.
Now that dashcams exist, there are videos all over the internet of crazy shit like a car hitting a moose, stupid drivers and even trucks hitting bridges and under passes. like dump trucks with their bed up.
There is even one guy who has a camera focused on one bridge called the 11foot8.com. This guy has 2 camera focused on this one bridge from 2 angles. The bridge is pretty well known to be 11’8″, but trucks, semis, etc. all ignore this warning…which has 2 warnings. (This thing is fucking hilarious, I had to watch this whole thing again, before I posted. it). Some hits are minor, but most of them look like this bridge is a can opener.
So this isn’t something new, which is why this next video is so scary, as it is a bit different. a dashcam caught a car hauler in Florida. As you will see, the driver of the hauler didn’t think to measure the height of the load, which hit an under construction overpass…and here is the result.
Honestly, I have a dashcam. While I haven’t caught a truck hitting a bridge, it has caught a couple of accidents and would-be accidents, one was used in a police investigation for an accident. While I don’t WANT to catch any of these things on camera, it has become a great safety tool…and it makes for great YouTube content.
