Between April 22nd and 25th, a 72 year old Lincoln woman was scammed out of $110,000.

Lancaster County Sheriff Terry Wagner says she got a pop-up on her computer stating it was locked because she visited an unsecured website. She called the number on the pop-up and thought she was talking to Apple Support.

Sheriff Wagner says, “She was told her money was compromised. She needed to transfer it to crypto currency to protect it. Yesterday (Wednesday), she followed the instructions she was provided. Initiated a wire transfer from her bank account to the an account she was given numbers for. She is out $110,000.”

LSO is working to determine if they can track the transfer but it looks doubtful.
