Nandi Bushell, the super cute 10 year old who challenged my boyfriend Dave Grohl to a drum-off in at the end of 2020, is now showing off her skills drumming to…RUSH! She posted a video on her Twitter drumming to “Tom Sawyer”, and what is even more cool is that Alex Lifeson responded saying that he and Geddy Lee had seen the video and thought Neil Peart would have loved it!
This one is for you Professor. I wanted to try a @rushtheband song that would really challenge me. I watched an interview were Neil Peart said Tom Sawyer ‘remains so difficult to play’. So I thought I would give it a try. It’s actually really fun to play https://t.co/h8kjhFd3f2 pic.twitter.com/kTxVQwZiBE

Here’s Alex’s response!
Oh @Nandi_Bushell , you brought a tear to my eye with this tribute! Tom Sawyer is a difficult song to play drums to and you made it so much fun. Neil would have loved your performance and wonderful smile, as both Geddy and I do! – Alex https://t.co/vcmUNgSlIi

How cool at her age (she’s 11) to not only have played on stage with the Foo Fighters, she just won the Tony Williams Drumeo Award which is “awarded to a drummer who has had a breakout year and is making an impact at a young age” (from the Drumeo Twitter), and now she’s getting the attention of Alex Lifeson and Geddy Lee from Rush!! What an amazing young lady!!
