Haymarket Park to allow near full capacity for Nebraska-Michigan series

Haymarket Park is about to offer something no other Husker venue has been able to since March of 2020.

A nearly full house.

With a new Directed Health Measure from the Lincoln-Lancaster County Health Department going into effect this week, “indoor and outdoor spaces will open to full capacity.” That means remaining home events for Nebraska Athletics can go back to selling tickets for venues at full capacity.

“We won’t be at 100% capacity, but close,” Director of Website Services Jeremy Foote told KLIN in an email.

Falling just shy of full capacity is due to leaving a four-row buffer between the crowd and the field. Part of that reasoning is to accommodate TV broadcast cameras and photographers with the camera wells attached to each dugout unavailable.

Officially, Haymarket Park will have a max capacity of 8,095 for the Michigan series, or roughly 92-93%.

Nebraska hosts Michigan for a three-game series beginning Friday, May 28. All three games are set for noon starts.

The last NU sporting event to offer full capacity was Nebraska baseball against Northern Colorado on March 11, 2020.
