Lincoln Police were sent to 60th and Havelock at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 28th to investigate a disturbance. Officers talked with a 22 year old man who said he went to visit a friend’s apartment with several other people. A man from another apartment then complained about children making too much noise.
There was a verbal exchange the neighbor assaulted the visitor. The neighbor then went to his vehicle and got a knife. He started swinging it at the victim, who was hit several times. The officer saw there were several small cuts on the victim’s face and body. The victim had also been punched several times and the neighbor had threatened to kill him.
Another bystander, a 33 year old man tried to stop the assault and suffered a cut to the arm.
Officers identified the assaulter as 49 year old Christopher Ryan who lives in the same apartment building where the attack happened. He was taken into custody and booked for 2nd degree assault and for making terroristic threats.
